There is a balanced content that includes complete current information about the physiology of anxiety and panic attacks, followed by the psychology that often accompanies such attacks, and then step-by-step exercises you can do to help alleviate your symptoms.

I have read and or purchased over 10 Anxiety books and this one was definiately a book worth reading. I hate the fill in the blank what did I do today to make me better garbage? I want general advice or a cognitive plan that works. I've suffered with my illness for more than 6 months, been on many different meds. (Still taking them) and tried many things. To me this book is better than any therapy I've had so far.

I've read many, many books on treating panic disorder, but this is the ONLY book that helped me overcome my panic disorder. I only wish I had read it years ago. Panic pretty much ... my life down a black hole -- I was so agoraphobic that for two years I rarely left my bedroom, even to go down the hall to the kitchen. A cognitive-behavioral therapist gave me a copy of this book and took me step by step thru it.

As a sufferer of chronic panic attacks for years this book was a godsend. I utilized it as part of a therapy effort to overcome panic attacks (which I did, and have been free of them for the last 5 years.) The book is clear, identifies exactly what people suffering from anxiety go through physically and psychologically, and helps begin the process of becoming free from panic attacks.

Whenever I feel myself getting anxious, I just flip to the pages that I have all marked as significant in banishing my anticipatory thoughts and am instantly brought back down to Earth.

Dr. Granoff`s book HELP! I THINK I`M DYING! is great. I`ve readmany other books on the subject that were filled with fluff, fat andpsycho babble. Dr. Granoff has a knack for delivering knowledge in a clear and efficient manner. His writing style is easy to read. The total package helped clean up many misconceptions I had about my illness. I liked that he added supplements to his original book to update his information. His information guided me to getting more effective treatment from my doctor.


In Stillness Conquer Fear: Overcoming Anxiety, Panic Attack, and Agoraphobia. by Pauline McKinnon

Pauline's book is extremely helpful. She tells her story in a warm and compassionate manner. You realize there are other people going through the same things. I have MANY books on anxiety--hers is a favourite.


Journey from Anxiety to Freedom: Moving Beyond Panic and Phobias and Learning to Trust Yourself. by Mani Feniger

This is a lovely and inspiring book--it's not like any other book I've ever read on this subject. Mani Feniger is a therapist, but this is not a clinical take on phobias. She has also struggled with anxiety and fears, and she writes with a personal, caring voice. Her own story, and the stories shared by others, make you feel that it is really possible to get free and move on with your life.


Keys to Parenting Your Anxious Child (Barron's Parenting Keys). by Katharina Manassis
